Global areas of competitiveness for the Polish economy up to 2040

Several years have now passed since the publication of this study’s findings, but it seems that, in the context of the Polish Digital Resilience Agenda 2040, this material is worth revisiting. It was then that we discovered that digital technologies could serve as a fundamental driver of social and economic change to a greater extent than was generally assumed. Despite the passage of time, the material retains many cognitive merits and, above all, prompts reflection. It seems that its fundamental theme is the search for a new paradigm of our competitive advantage in the post-IT era, which we should be incubating right now. The post-IT era is a state in which digital technologies will become the backdrop to our lives but not their essential part. It is a state in which there is a natural ‘retreat’ of technology in areas where it is superfluous. This phase is only just beginning, for as Agenda 2040 shows, digital technologies make life easier but, from today’s perspective, also complicate it significantly. How can we find new sources of competitiveness in such a world? How can we build new business models? How, finally, can we ensure that real agency and influence over our lives do not slip out of our control? The question is: will they?

We encourage you to read this and share your thoughts. This material appears to provide an excellent basis for further exploration of strategic competitive advantages. It also demonstrates how effective scenarios can be as a tool for testing strategies.
